The Andalusian Center for Environmental, (CEAMA) is part of the structure of research developed by the Andalusian Plan of research centres. Its original proposal already appeared in the first Plan of 1989 and started its implementation, in its current conception in 1999, with the construction of its headquarters. In the new research entities established in Andalusia is differentiating character his multi and interdisciplinarity and its special interest in the training and service to society. It is a mixed Centre Andalusian Goberment - University of Granada open to the participation and collaboration with other institutions R & D and management is a joint Center preferably in Andalusia. It was create with a vocation for facilitating the development of lines of research which, for its unique thematic, organizational, instrumental or multidisciplinary nature, can not be effectively in other centres.
In the CEAMA research on environmental issues, their basic knowledge in its fundamental and applied and processes in the media and techniques that facilitate the sustainable use of natural resources and the improvement of the quality of life.
Our organization is open, thus allowing the incorporation of research groups that, duly accredited quality, comply with the above characteristics and are open to collaborative work. Apart from some groups, history of long and continuous excellence, its composition is based on the evaluation of projects, which establishes the permanence in the Center.
Since July, 2011, the CEAMA has integrated inside the Interuniversity Research Institute of Earth System in Andalusia (institute coordinated by the University of Granada)
